Guerlain’s New Training Tool
Sylvaine Delacourte, head of fragrance training at Guerlain (LVMH), has developed a new tool for training the beauty consultants in its 14,000 retail outlets. The memory aid, in seven languages, consists of thirty bound miniature information sheets. Each sheet discusses a fragrance: olfactory category and components, the inspiration behind the bottle, the fragrance itself and descriptive elements in a few keywords. The information needs not be memorized, and beauty consultants can use the sheets with clients.
Olfactory Research Fund Changes Name
The Olfactory Research Fund has announced that it will become the Sense of Smell Institute, from January 1, 2001. In addition, its mission has been redefined to position the Sense of Smell Institute as the leading global resource relating to the sense of smell and its impact on quality of life.
Dana’s Francis Montesinos Fragrance Spain
Much anticipated in Spain, here at last is the first fragrance by designer Francis Montesinos de Valencia and the Catalan-based House of Dana. Expiritu de Montesinos is designed for women between 20 and 55. The composition by Florence Didier (Creations Aromatiques) uses fig leaves as a thread to string together the olfactory elements of the fragrance.
Enhancing the fig leaves are top notes of mint, bergamot and black gooseberry. The heart notes are made up of freesia, lily of the valley, violet, iris, jasmine and coconut. The woody musk base notes contain vetiver, sandalwood, cedar wood, amber and white musk. The flacon was designed by Ramon Clemente.
Espiritu de Montesinos will be available from mid-November in perfumeries and large department stores in Spain and from June 2001 in 45 other countries including the US, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and the UK. The 75ml flacon spray is priced at Pta3,985/$23.
