Quest Offers Readers The Smell of Café
Quest International has brought a new exhibition to life for the 300,000 readers of the French daily, Libération. A recent edition of the newspaper was scented with an “Expresso” fragrance to promote the theme of the “Cafe Show,” the first exhibition to be dedicated solely to coffee. The “Expresso” fragrance was the fruit of the talents of Quest perfumer Pierre Nuyens and perfumer and flavorist colleague Roger Arnaud.
Marionnaud Franchises in the Works?
Marcel Frydman, chairman of the French perfume store chain Marionnaud, is proposing a franchise system for small sales outlets in the provinces in cases where outright acquisition is not feasible. “I am very much interested in the idea of creating a network of beauty institutes,” he explains. “If my plans come to fruition, the franchise outlets will be completely independent from the chain and will not display the Marionnaud banner.” Frydman already heads a network of more than 500 perfume stores of all sizes throughout France, plus outlets in Switzerland, Italy and, starting in January 2001, Tunisia.
Jil Sander’s Spring-Summer Collection
German designer Jil Sander’s spring/summer makeup collection consists of eight products. Two are newcomers: Moisturizing Face Glow and, in a limited edition series, the Eyes Cheeks Stick, a two-in-one product. Prices from DM25/ $11 for the eyeliner pencil to DM53/ $23 for the Powder Blusher. The line will launch in January 2001 in Germany and other European markets including Austria, Switzerland, and Italy in department stores and selected perfumeries.
